DHI Beard Transplant
Beard and mustache transplantation are among the transplantation types that complement each other and are widely used today. Beard transplantation is a cosmetic surgery procedure that corrects the appearance of sparse, uneven or missing beards. This procedure involves transplanting hair follicles to the beard area of the face. Thus, a more dense, regular and aesthetic beard appearance is achieved. Beard transplantation is applied to increase beard fullness in men, correct beard lines, cover scars or fill areas where beard is missing.
What Techniques Are Used in Beard Transplantation?
Two main techniques are generally preferred in beard transplantation: DHI and FUE. Both techniques involve harvesting individual grafts (follicle units) from the donor site at the back of the head and then transplanting them to the desired area on the face.
With the DHI technique, hair follicles are taken one by one and immediately after harvesting, they are transplanted to the desired areas one by one with a device called Choi Pen.
In the FUE technique, the surgeon removes the hair follicles one by one and then makes micro incisions in the target area. He places the previously collected hair follicles into these incisions.
Both techniques are mild procedures and do not cause pain since they are performed under local anesthesia. Since there are no cuts or stitches in beard transplantation techniques, the recovery period is short. While the surgeon speaks quickly, you can create your beard transplant plan according to the density and shape of your dream beard. If your donor area is suitable and your general health condition is suitable, you can have a natural and thick beard.
How is Beard Transplantation Done?
Beard and mustache transplantation is a single-session procedure performed under local anesthesia. It is a painless procedure that takes approximately 4-5 hours. The day after the procedure, some minor crusting may occur in the transplanted area. However, it passes in a short time. The hairs at the ends of the transplanted roots fall out after 15 days. This is a normal process. After three months, the hairs start to grow again. Within 6 to 8 months, the patient will have the desired beard and mustache.
